Located in a historic neighborhood in Long Beach, CA this idyllic cozy residence retains its original clapboard siding, asymmetrical slanted roof and charming brick-chimney. The interiors are transformed to make the most of the limited footprint, creating a welcoming space for gathering and entertaining by connecting the kitchen to the living room. The space is brightened by adding indirect natural light from new clerestory windows above. The addition, providing welcome room for the couple to grow, is a complementary modern structure with a faceted roof and undulating ceilings – a light filled master suite as retreat.
